Marcel Dzama was born in 1974 and is a contemporary artist from Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, who currently lives and works in New York.
His work has been exhibited internationally, in particular his unique, ink and watercolour drawings. He is represented by David Zwirner Gallery in New York and London. The actor Brad Pitt is one of his celebrity collectors, certainly an artist to follow.
Dzama has in recent years expanded his practice to include sculpture, painting, film, large-scale polyptychs, and dioramas. In the latter, he constructs intricate, complex, three-dimensional scenes using his signature drawings, collage elements, cardboard, and occasionally ceramics.
